Plan Be

Plan Be is a book.

Plan Be is a campaign.

Plan Be is a proclamation that the be-attitudes featured in Matthew 5 are a very necessary Christian response to a suffering world.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Plan Be is a book written by Dave Andrews that inspired a campaign - spearheaded by BSQ. The campaign is geared to see the Be-Attitudes firmly on individual and church agendas, transforming lives through God’s Word and starting a revolution – the effects of which stretch far beyond church walls.

“Plan A has been to treat others like they treat us… Plan Be is to treat others how we would like to be treated.”

The overwhelming evidence is that Plan A isn’t working – just have a good look at the state the world is in. Before choosing Plan Be though, it’s important to realise why Plan A hasn’t worked.

"An ‘eye-for-an-eye’ policy merly limits retribution without enabling us to see - let alone do - the sort of things that make for peace and love and justice.”

"Plan Be: Deliberate Acts of Kindness" will see Bible Society (BSQ), with the help of Plan Be author Dave Andrews, putting the Beatitudes on the church agenda - with tangible results. Plan Be is a book that shows just how seriously Jesus meant the Beatitudes, helping people to understand this responsibility to help those in need.

Over the next few months Churches will journey through the Be-Attitudes utilising specificresources created by BSQ for the campaign. Tangible signs of the campaign will be seen through signs – church signs. Each week for eight weeks (because of eight Be-Attitudes), participating Qld churches will change their sign to feature the Be-Attitude of the week, bringing about a consistent message of love and social action – state wide.

We also invite churches to commit to an 8-week journey through the Beatitudes within the next 12 months, as your church schedule allows. The Plan Be resource kit encourages life-changing reflection and action around the Beatitudes and is a helpful resource for small groups and church leaders to use for teaching from the pulpit.

The Plan Be resource kit includes the following:

Small Group Guide - a fantastic resource outlining suggested topics and questions designed to stimulate discussion and action together.

Daily Be - For individual action, we have created an ‘action guide’ that highlights the be-attitudes as featured in Plan Be. To further promote social action, these feature pages are flanked by seven days of devotions, helping individuals and groups to unpack and live out thebe-attitudes in practical ways.

Be-VD, a DVD with vox pops from people on the street about the be-attitudes - guaranteed to launch conversation and community engagement.

Should you decide to get on board with the Plan Be campaign, the full resource kit will be made available for you to use in your Sunday services as well as small groups.
