readthebook.com
The whole bent of this campaign is obvious – to read the book. Which book? (Need you ask?!) THE Book – the Greatest Book of all time; the Bible.
Tackling people’s misconceptions of God and the Bible –‘boring’, ‘irrelevant’ or ‘just for religious types’ – the readthebook.com campaign will be speaking predominantly to the unchurched community. It will encourage us, as Christians, to read the Bible for all its worth with churchwide journaling strategies, Bible helps and study tools that help people to understand the ancient words of wisdom more closely in relation to their modern lives.
Readthebook.com is geared for more than just that. One of the primary goals is to encourage Christians everywhere to introduce unchurched friends to it. And the first way we want to do this is through everyday mediums – TV, internet, radio, billboards. You name it, we want to be on it.
But readthebook.com will rise and fall on the relationships that you have and how you respond to people’s questions. So get informed in our Bible Advocates section on how to answer some of the curlier questions, and how to engage at a spiritual level with unchurched friends and colleagues.
We’re launching this public Bible juggernaut in 2009, but we’ll certainly be gearing up for it all this year. Stay tuned on what’s happening and how you can be involved.
